AMO-Bench 2025 Problem 24

  • Answer

Let nn be an integer with n>2n>2. Real numbers a1,a2,…,ana_1, a_2, \ldots, a_n satisfy ∑k=1nak=2n,∑k=1nk ∣ak∣=4n.\sum_{k=1}^{n} a_k = 2n, \sum_{k=1}^{n} k\,|a_k| = 4n. Find the minimum value of a12+a22+⋯+an2a_1^2 + a_2^2 + \cdots + a_n^2.

For n=3n=3, the minimum of a12+a22+a32a_1^2 + a_2^2 + a_3^2 is 1212. For n≥4n \ge 4, the minimum of a12+a22+⋯+an2a_1^2 + a_2^2 + \cdots + a_n^2 is 6n25\dfrac{6n^2}{5}.
