RU-ALLRUSSIAN 1965 Problem 8

    The n2\mathrm{n}^2 numbers xij\mathbf{x}_{\mathrm{ij}} satisfy the n3\mathrm{n}^3 equations: xij+xjk+xki=0\mathbf{x}_{\mathrm{ij}} + \mathbf{x}_{\mathrm{jk}} + \mathbf{x}_{\mathrm{ki}} = 0 . Prove that we can find numbers a1\mathbf{a}_1 , ..., an\mathbf{a}_{\mathrm{n}} such that xij=ai−aj\mathbf{x}_{\mathrm{ij}} = \mathbf{a}_{\mathrm{i}} - \mathbf{a}_{\mathrm{j}} .
