Day 1

Problem 1

  • Day 1

Amy and Bob play the game. At the beginning, Amy writes down a positive integer on the board. Then the players take moves in turn, Bob moves first. On any move of his, Bob replaces the number nn on the blackboard with a number of the form n−a2n-a^{2}, where aa is a positive integer. On any move of hers, Amy replaces the number nn on the blackboard with a number of the form nkn^{k}, where kk is a positive integer. Bob wins if the number on the board becomes zero. Can Amy prevent Bob's win?

Problem 2

  • Day 1

Let ABCDA B C D be an isosceles trapezoid with AB∥CDA B \| C D. Let EE be the midpoint of ACA C. Denote by ω\omega and Ω\Omega the circumcircles of the triangles ABEA B E and CDEC D E, respectively. Let PP be the crossing poitn of the tangent to ω\omega at AA with the tangent to Ω\Omega at DD. Prove that PEP E is tangent to Ω\Omega.

Problem 3

  • Day 1

Given any positive real number ε\varepsilon, prove that, for all but finitely many positive integers vv, any graph on vv vertices with at least (1+ε)v(1+\varepsilon) v edges has two distinct simple cycles of equal lengths. (Recall that the notion of a simple cycle does not allow repetition of vertices in a cycle.)

Problem 4

  • Day 2

Prove that for every positive integer nn there exists a (not necessarily convex) polygon with no three collinear vertices, which admits exactly nn different triangulations. (A triangulation is a dissection of the polygon into triangles by interior diagonals which have no common interior points with each other nor with the sides of the polygon.)

Problem 5

  • Day 2

Determine all functions f:R→Rf: \mathbb{R} \rightarrow \mathbb{R} satisfying

f(x+yf(x))+f(xy)=f(x)+f(2019y)f(x+y f(x))+f(x y)=f(x)+f(2019 y)

for all real numbers xx and yy.

Problem 6

  • Day 2

Find all pairs of integers (c,d)(c, d), both greater than 1 , such that the following holds:

For any monic polynomial QQ of degree dd with integer coefficients and for any prime p>c(2c+1)p>c(2 c+1), there exists a set SS of at most (2c−12c+1)p\left(\frac{2 c-1}{2 c+1}\right) p integers, such that

⋃s∈S{s,Q(s),Q(Q(s)),Q(Q(Q(s))),…}\bigcup_{s \in S}\{s, Q(s), Q(Q(s)), Q(Q(Q(s))), \ldots\}

is a complete residue system modulo pp (i.e., intersects with every residue class modulo pp ).

Each of the three problems is worth 7 points. Time allowed 4124 \frac{1}{2} hours.
