Problem 1

The positive integer nn has the following property: if the three last digits of nn are removed, the number n3\sqrt[3]{n} remains. Find nn.

Problem 2

Let a,ba, b, and cc be non-zero real numbers and let a≥b≥ca \geq b \geq c. Prove the inequality

a3−c33≥abc(a−bc+b−ca)\frac{a^{3}-c^{3}}{3} \geq a b c\left(\frac{a-b}{c}+\frac{b-c}{a}\right)

When does equality hold?

Problem 3

Two concentric spheres have radii rr and R,r<RR, r<R. We try to select points A,BA, B and CC on the surface of the larger sphere such that all sides of the triangle ABCA B C would be tangent to the surface of the smaller sphere. Show that the points can be selected if and only if R≤2rR \leq 2 r.

Problem 4

Let mnm_{n} be the smallest value of the function

fn(x)=∑k=02nxkf_{n}(x)=\sum_{k=0}^{2 n} x^{k}

Show that mn→12m_{n} \rightarrow \frac{1}{2}, as n→∞n \rightarrow \infty.
