Other problems

Problem 1

Consider a convex quadrilateral ABCDA B C D, in which K,L,M,NK, L, M, N are the midpoints of the sides ABA B, BC,CD,DAB C, C D, D A respectively. Suppose

(a) BDB D bisects KMK M at QQ;

(b) QA=QB=QC=QDQ A=Q B=Q C=Q D; and

(c) LK/LM=CD/CBL K / L M=C D / C B.

Prove that ABCDA B C D is a square.

Problem 2

Suppose pp is a prime greater than 3 . Find all pairs of integers (a,b)(a, b) satisfying the equation

a2+3ab+2p(a+b)+p2=0a^{2}+3 a b+2 p(a+b)+p^{2}=0

Problem 3

If α\alpha is a real root of the equation x5−x3+x−2=0x^{5}-x^{3}+x-2=0, prove that [α6]=3\left[\alpha^{6}\right]=3. (For any real number aa, we denote by [a][a] the greatest integer not exceeding aa.)

Problem 4

Let RR denote the circumradius of a triangle ABC;a,b,cA B C ; a, b, c its sides BC,CA,ABB C, C A, A B; and ra,rb,rcr_{a}, r_{b}, r_{c} its exradii opposite A,B,CA, B, C. If 2R≤ra2 R \leq r_{a}, prove that

(i) a>ba>b and a>ca>c;

(ii) 2R>rb2 R>r_{b} and 2R>rc2 R>r_{c}.

Problem 5

Let SS denote the set of all 6-tuples (a,b,c,d,e,f)(a, b, c, d, e, f) of positive integers such that a2+b2+c2+d2+e2=a^{2}+b^{2}+c^{2}+d^{2}+e^{2}= f2f^{2}. Consider the set

T={abcdef:(a,b,c,d,e,f)∈S}T=\{a b c d e f:(a, b, c, d, e, f) \in S\}

Find the greatest common divisor of all the members of TT.

Problem 6

Prove that the number of 5 -tuples of positive integers (a,b,c,d,e)(a, b, c, d, e) satisfying the equation

abcde=5(bcde+acde+abde+abce+abcd)a b c d e=5(b c d e+a c d e+a b d e+a b c e+a b c d)

is an odd integer.
