IMO 2011 Problem 5

  • Day 2

Let ff be a function from the set of integers to the set of positive integers. Suppose that, for any two integers mm and nn , the difference f(m)−f(n)f(m) - f(n) is divisible by f(m−n)f(m- n) . Prove that, for all integers mm and nn with f(m)≤f(n)f(m) \leq f(n) , the number f(n)f(n) is divisible by f(m)f(m) .
