BALTIC-WAY 2003 Problem 5

    A sequence (an)\left(a_{n}\right) is defined as follows: a1=2,a2=2a_{1}=\sqrt{2}, a_{2}=2, and an+1=anan−12a_{n+1}=a_{n} a_{n-1}^{2} for n≥2n \geq 2. Prove that for every n≥1n \geq 1 we have

    (1+a1)(1+a2)⋯(1+an)<(2+2)a1a2⋯an.\left(1+a_{1}\right)\left(1+a_{2}\right) \cdots\left(1+a_{n}\right)<(2+\sqrt{2}) a_{1} a_{2} \cdots a_{n} .
