BALTIC-WAY 1999 Problem 14

    Let ABCA B C be an isosceles triangle with ∣AB∣=∣AC∣|A B|=|A C|. Points DD and EE lie on the sides ABA B and ACA C, respectively. The line passing through BB and parallel to ACA C meets the line DED E at FF. The line passing through CC and parallel to ABA B meets the line DED E at GG. Prove that

    [DBCG][FBCE]=∣AD∣∣AE∣\frac{[D B C G]}{[F B C E]}=\frac{|A D|}{|A E|}

    where [PQRS][P Q R S] denotes the area of the quadrilateral PQRSP Q R S.
