APMO 2025 Problem 1

  • Paper

Let ABCA B C be an acute triangle inscribed in a circle Γ\Gamma . Let A1A_{1} be the orthogonal projection of AA onto BCB C so that AA1A A_{1} is an altitude. Let B1B_{1} and C1C_{1} be the orthogonal projections of A1A_{1} onto ABA B and ACA C , respectively. Point PP is such that quadrilateral AB1PC1A B_{1}P C_{1} is convex and has the same area as triangle ABCA B C . Is it possible that PP strictly lies in the interior of circle Γ\Gamma ? Justify your answer.
